If you want to say the word “months” in Spanish, you would say “meses” or “los meses.” In the singular, the word “month” would be “mes” or “el mes.” Need the names of the individual months? Starting with January, they go as follows: enero, febrero, marzo, abril, mayo, junio, julio, agosto, septiembre, octubre, noviembre, diciembre.

While English is technically a Germanic language, it has been influenced by Latin and other related languages. As one example, the letter r is pronounced differently and takes some practise for most new learners. This distinct sound is formed by tapping the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth, about a third of the way back in the mouth. Some Spanish language experts suggest new Spanish learners practise making the “tt” sound, as it sounds in the English word butter.
