Confusing in Spanish?

If you want to say “confusing” in Spanish, you may use “confuso” (masculine singular), " confusa " (feminine singular), “confusos” (masculine plural), or “confusas” (feminine plural).

Mastering the ins-and-out of “confusing” and other adjectives in Spanish can certainly seem intimidating, but they’re not all that difficult to get used to—especially if you happen to speak related languages like French and Italian—or even English. Italian and French are closely related to Spanish, both being in the same romance language family—whereas the English language makes use of many French and Latin or Italian words and phrases that are cognates (lingual cousins of one another).

That’s why you will frequently notice that there are a great number of English words and phrases like the word “information” that sound close in French (information), Italian (informazione), and Spanish (información). Many Western students of Spanish tend to find it has an easy to understand pronunciation system, with few irregularities in pronunciation. This is, fortunately, unlike the English language (known to be among the most difficult to master). Even better, the Spanish alphabet is matched almost perfectly to English and the majority of other major European languages. There are only three additional letters you’ll need to learn: ch (chay), and ll (elle), and ñ (eñe).

As a beginning Spanish learner, you’ll want to first learn the basic building blocks that come into play in everyday conversation. Essential words and phrases such as who, what, when, where, why, yes, no, please, etc. will ease your entrance into everyday conversation in Spanish. Here are some of those basic building block words and phrases:

As you may have noticed—Spanish does have a few crucial differences in pronunciation that can make it a bit of a challenge for some learners, at least early on. One example is found with the letter r which is pronounced differently and takes some practise for most new learners. This distinct sound is formed by tapping the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth, about a third of the way back in the mouth. Some Spanish language experts counsel new Spanish learners to practise making the “tt” sound, as it sounds in the English word butter.
